ABOUT ME
I am a clinical psychologist, with a masters degree in clinical psychology. I have been working in both individual and group therapy settings since 2012, with adults and adolescents, delivering a personal brand of therapy which emphasises the connection and relationship between client and therapist, and allows for the safe exploration of deeply personal and painful issues.
I am focussed on delivering evidence-based therapy that facilitates meaningful and sustainable improvements for my clients. In my experience, every client has a unique history which has shaped their perceptions of themselves, of others and of the world. Getting to know the person behind the ‘problems’ is a central tenet of my approach to therapy.
I see clients who experience difficulties with depression, anxiety, relationship/interpersonal problems, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder, eating disorders and body image issues, personality disorders, grief, and substance-use issues.
I deliver schema-focussed therapy, which addresses negative core-beliefs that have been developed through painful and difficult experiences in one’s early life. This approach is particularly effective for people who experience repeated or entrenched patterns of mental health difficulties. I also deliver EMDR therapy and somatic experiencing therapies, which are highly effective trauma therapies that can be utilised for the treatment of specific traumatic experiences, occurring throughout one’s life, and pervasive attachment trauma from childhood.
I recognise that these issues can be very painful and confronting to address. As such, I always aim to personalise every individual’s experience of therapy, tailoring the pace and specific approach to meet the needs of each client.
I am also skilled in techniques of cognitive-behavioural therapy, exposure therapy, process-oriented (interpersonal) therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, relaxation and mindfulness.
I deliver appointments in person, and via Telehealth (Zoom or telephone), and I accept referrals via self-referral, and from GPs and psychiatrists.
